State Water Board Advocacy & Permit Consulting.
CRS provided strategic consulting and advocacy services to a large developer of desalination projects in connection with the State Water Board’s adoption of amendments to the California Ocean Plan that will govern the siting, development and operation of desalination facilities on California’s coast.
We worked with the client to develop a number of project briefing materials for, and used in conjunction with outreach efforts to State Water Board members and senior staff. In addition, we organized and participated in briefings with State Water Board members and staff, and helped draft and negotiate key provisions of proposed Plan amendments that would enable development of the client’s desalination plant.
Our efforts helped achieve the client’s goals and we continue to work with the client on permitting issues for two individual desalination projects in Southern California.
When both are operational, the combined total of new developed water available for Southern California will be more than 36 billion gallons annually!
