Permitting a Large Scale Energy Storage Project
CRS was hired by a Southern California energy company to assist with the permitting of a large scale energy storage project that will provide electrical generation peaking capacity and transmission system regulating benefits for integration of renewable wind and solar generation sources, as well as maintain transmission reliability for Southwestern electric utilities.
The 2,364-acre project included integration with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), Bureau of Land Management, US Fish & Wildlife Services, California Department of Fish & Wildlife, Cal/Trans, California Division of Safety of Dams, the local Regional Water Board, and other agencies.
We worked with the client on the development of necessary environmental documents (EIR/EIS), the application for 401 Certification from the State Water Board for FERC projects, and provided strategic governmental relations and communications advise during the prosecution and appeal of the Certification.
